How it works

Snap a receipt. See everything.

Behind a single photo sits a stack of best-in-class data sources, processed in seconds. No barcode scanning, no manual entry, no logging in to your supermarket account.

  1. Capture the receipt

Snap a photo of any paper receipt right after shopping - or upload a PDF e-receipt from your inbox. Works with every European supermarket format we've tested.

    CAMERA + OCR
  2. Identify every product

Cryptic receipt text and abbreviated product descriptions get resolved to specific products with full metadata: brand, category, GTIN, weight. Microblink's catalogue of 15M+ products handles even the obscure abbreviations.

    MICROBLINK COMMERCE
  3. Enrich with nutrition & eco data

Each product is matched against Open Food Facts to retrieve a Nutri-Score, additive count, ingredients, and an Eco-Score across 16 environmental indicators. Open methodology, independently maintained.

    OPEN FOOD FACTS + ECO-SCORE
  4. Tap what matters to you

Multi-select filters: cheaper, healthier, organic, lower environmental impact, EU-sourced, plastic-free. Items re-rank in real time by how well they fit the priorities you chose - no algorithm deciding for you what should be important.

    FILTER ENGINE
  5. See better choices inline

Items that match your filters get checkmarks. Items that don't show a swap suggestion right underneath: a specific alternative, the price you'd pay, and what it improves.

Plastic exposure

How much plastic did you actually buy?

  • Every product in plastic listed with its individual GreenBee score
  • Targeted swap suggestions for the items worst on packaging

Compare

Nobody else does all three.

Yuka leads on nutrition. Open Food Facts owns the data. Receipt apps handle price. GreenBee is the first to put price, nutrition, and environment in one place - built around the moment of purchase.

Common questions

Everything you might wonder.

When does GreenBee launch?

We're targeting a public launch in the Netherlands and Belgium in 2026, followed by Germany, France, and Austria. Early access members get the app first.

Is GreenBee really free?

Yes! Scanning, filters, and core swap suggestions stay free forever. Trust is the product. We may offer optional premium features (family sharing, meal-plan optimiser, advanced analytics) later, but the core app will always be free.

How does GreenBee decide what's a better choice?

It asks you. After a scan, tap the filter chips that matter to you: cheaper, healthier, organic, lower environmental impact, EU-sourced, plastic-free, in any combination - and your basket re-ranks by how well each item fits. Items that match show ✓ checkmarks; items that don't get a swap suggestion right underneath.

What about my privacy?

GDPR-compliant from day one. Receipts are processed with your explicit consent and stored encrypted. No personal identifiers required for the core scanning function. You own your data and can delete it any time.

Which retailers are supported?

At launch: every major Benelux retailer including Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Plus, Lidl, Aldi, Dirk, Coop, Delhaize, Carrefour, and Colruyt. Our receipt OCR works with paper receipts and PDF e-receipts. We're adding new retailers continuously.

How is this different from Yuka?

Yuka grades individual products through its own algorithm - you scan, it tells you good or bad. GreenBee starts the other way around: it asks what matters to you, then sorts your whole basket against your priorities. Plus we cover price fairness, environmental impact, and plastic exposure on top of nutrition, and we work from your receipt so you see what you actually bought rather than what's on a shelf.

What about microplastics?

Microplastics are an evolving science - EFSA's authoritative opinion is expected in 2027 and we won't pretend we have the definitive answer until then. What we do today: surface plastic packaging as one of the filters you can prioritise, and show a Plastic Exposure indicator on each basket (LOW / MODERATE / HIGH) so you can see at a glance how much of your shopping comes in plastic. The methodology updates as the evidence sharpens; we explain the caveats openly in-app.

Be among the first to know.

Optional, but helpful - drop your email and we'll let you in before the public launch in 2026.
